It looks as though austerity measures in the UK are starting to reduce life expectancy.

I know that I am paying income tax on my pension that a few years ago I would have been able to not pay any tax. Tax breaks for pensioners and married couples have been done away with in the UK in the governments greed for more personal taxation. It is being said that these are some of the measures that are contributing to lower life expectency. Another aspect is the poverty levels that we are now seeing in the UK after a decade of austerity. I still don't see why the people should pay for the banks mistakes.

There are 14,000,000 people in poverty in Britain because of austerity, UN says Read more: https://metro.co.uk/2018/11/19/there-are-14000000-in-poverty-in-britain-because-of-austerity-un-says-8154144/?ito=cbshare Twitter: https://twitter.com/MetroUK | Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/MetroUK/

It is a big wheel that keeps on rolling. Reduced income, can't buy good food, can't afford alternative medicine.
Time to get off that wheel.

I've heard a report on the news suggesting that a lot of our issue currently is the feeling of hopelessness and that suicide rates are insanely high these past few years.

I am on the lowest level working within a budget. Today I assigned $4 to buy some second-hand plates from an op shop. But the amazing thing is, I seem to have everything I need. Patience is also a virtue in getting what you want. You have to be alert to opportunity and just take it when it comes. Also, your mindset probably makes a big difference to the happiness score of your life. If you think you are in poverty, you probably are. I don't think that about myself. I see myself as being able to provide, and being able to live well, within constraints. Living in a sunny place with the ocean a kilometre away probably does wonders for my self-esteem!
