We have a sweet gum tree in the backyard that struggled through the 7-year drought. We did everything we could to keep it going, but the weather took a toll. Last week a freak micro-burst wind snapped the top of it. There was not enough canopy to sustain the tree, so the tree guys will be here shortly to take it down.
This tree is an important place for the wildlife - good cover, a cool spot to rest, even a place for a burrow at the base. I went out last night to explain what would happen today and shared that I honored and loved it for its service to all of us. I was heart broken (tearing up now). All of a sudden my hands, which were on the trunk, got very hot. It was a tremendous energy exchange. This morning I was talking to it again and felt a wave of energy. My whole body lit up, and I understood its spirit was moving out to everything around it.
