Dr Martyn Dade Robertson from Newcastle University in the UK is the creator of this artwork known as Data Portraits. He's developed a method of mapping websites and turning dull data into something beautiful.

These remind me of something I did as a kid, but the memory isn't fully recalled. I would use something to create shapes like this and it totally reminds me of some of the patterns in the image. It wasn't anything to do with computers, but a manual process.
