The person who wrote that obviously has never seen a stone being skipped over a pond. Once I was in tune with my intuition and psychic voice, I realised that consciousness can help you leap frog along the path. For instance, you just think it, and you end up there, not having traversed all the steps in between. Intuition allows hops and jumps. It doesn't all have to be linear A-Z, join every dot in sequence. That would be the baby walk. Sure, you have to go through that, the baby stages, and then after that you learn through imagination. Just my take on it.
