With an unobstructed view within a peaceful environment, located on the shores of Lake Ranuanjärvi far within the snow-covered woodlands of Finish Lapland are Arctic Fox Igloos. What I love about these are the glass dome-like structure which provides a full view of not just the snow, stars and night sky, but the northern lights.

Each one features a bedroom, kitchen, bathroom and even private sauna. Despite the freezing temperatures outside, the heated glass at the front is insulated.

No, this is not an advertisement for another hotel, but I just thought it would be a great option if you could afford it and wanted to get away. All the usual questions come to my mind, such as privacy, how close are other Igloos and so on, of course.

I've always had a thing for the snow, and I've never seen the southern or northern lights. I'd enjoy it!

How about you? Is it your kind of thing?

What a great idea. Kinda...

The northern lights are truly beautiful, and one of life's "must-see" bucket-list kind of things. When they are in full splendor, you will not tolerate that glass between you and the sky. It would really take away from it. You have to sit outside for the full effect. They do the most mezmerizing, silent dance... and you can't help yourself but just sit in silence and feel awe.

I see them often and I never, ever get tired of it.

I can tell you for sure that the cool draft off those windows would make sure you didn't fall asleep though. :)
