2022 is the year of the Water Tiger, starting from February 1st, 2022, and ending on January 21st, 2023. It is a Water Tiger year.
(The Chinese New Year starts at the time of the Aquarian New Moon which is 1st February in most parts of the world)

The Tiger is known as the king of all beasts in China. The zodiac sign Tiger is a symbol of strength, exorcising evils, and braveness so this is the theme of 2022 as there has been a certain darkness or evil in the world and Tiger will take care of this as the year progresses.

The Year of the Tiger occurs every 12 years, so if you're born in 1926, 1938, 1950 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998 or 2010, then you're ruled by the powerful tiger.
In Chinese astrology, each sign is also ruled by an earthly and heavenly branch thus this Lunar New Year, the 2022 Year of the Tiger will be a 'water tiger' governed by the element of wood.

The Lunar New Year marks the transition from one sign into another, which in this case is Ox into Tiger.

The slow and hardworking, disciplined nature of the ox, which brought the mood of 2021, will be replaced by the speed, strength and power of the tiger in 2022.
The transition from a yin ox to a yang tiger should be very noticeable.
This year we will gaining much of our vitality and strength back and find more determination to achieve our goals. Generally people will have much more courage this year to face any challenge.
The tiger is characterized as being tough when facing adversity, with a strong sense of justice and a commitment to the greater good but there could of course also be the fierce hunting instinct to take into consideration which could generate competition and conflict among people but the water will mellow this somewhat.

The Yang Wood element of 2022 is about benevolence and generosity, so these are the virtues we can manifest this year.
The combination of wood and water in the Year of the Tiger is significant as “the water nourishes the wood, allowing it to grow,” which means there will be more support and resources for the Wood (Tiger) to grow, so people can look for help whenever they need it.”
So the combination of this zodiac year’s energies is auspicious in bringing strength and restoration and growth.
Much like their namesakes, Tigers are independent, fearless, loyal and have high-self esteem. Tigers are strong in the face of adversity and never back down from a challenge, they're persistent and determined.
Their free nature and strong sense of justice is their biggest strength and weakness, as this can lead to them being rebellious and sometimes too self-confident.

Because this year is a water tiger, Tigers can expect good fortune in relationships and family life. Tigers can expect to succeed in their career with hard work and determination.
The colours of green and blue will bring good luck and fortune for Tigers in 2022. Lucky numbers are 1, 3 and 7. Be sure to stay clear of the colour white and numbers 4 and 9 throughout the year if you are a Tiger although this would depend on your own "Four pillars of Wisdom" chart to a large degree which includes your birth time so to get the full picture you really need to seek a reading by a qualified Meng practitioner.
Its important to remember the start of the Chinese New Year changes every year according to the New Moon in Aquarius as the Lunar year is used which is different to the Western New Year so people born at the beginning of the year always have to check their animal sign.
