The first image above is of an oil painting, The Gleaners, by Jean-François Millet, from 1857.
It shows three female peasants gleaning a field of stray stalks of wheat after the harvest. It's famous for featuring, in a sympathetic way, what were then the lowest ranks of rural society; this was received poorly by the French upper classes.
The second image above is by Julie Nahon, this year, and is titled The Cleaners. It's a similar take on Ward Kimball's, The Gleaners, from 1964.
Julie's piece is pretty self explanatory. You can find her on Instagram here: https://www.instagram.com/julie_nahon/.
From a creative perspective, it's interesting how people take one idea and mould it into something else while keeping the original essence.
