Soul contracts - myth or belief??

For a while now I've been having some evolving thoughts about soul contracts. As a regression therapist I have never heard a client in deep hypnosis speak using the word contracts. They may say 'we agreed to do this'. Contracts imply a complete and absolute obligation, yet still an agreement with others is not absolute as we have choices that will either enable us to follow through on them or not.

Paradoxically if the therapist/facilitator says 'do you have any contracts that it is appropriate to break or destroy now', sure enough the hypnotised client often says 'yes' and describes them being destroyed.

A contract would fly in the face of our having free will. What do you think about contracts and free will?

Here Caroline Myss shares her beliefs on the basis for Sacred Contracts.

We have the free will to create and destroy our contracts. Create them for our advancement aswell as destroying those that are no longer needed.

My feeling is that we set ourselves up for success by picking our parents, our culture, and other "outer" conditions prior to incarnating. I feel we also make agreements with others--and it is these agreements that I interpret as "soul contracts". For example, two soul aspects (most likely part of a soul group) agree to incarnate together, perhaps in different parts of the world. The two agree to help each other work out any karma that may remain from a previous life together. In a prior life, for example, one might have been the wife--and the other the husband. This time however, they may decide to switch roles. All through their lives, the "Higher" soul aspects (on the Spirit Side) nudge the two together through synchronicity after synchronicity. This helps set up these two souls aspects for success in learning whatever lessons or experiences they may have sought to have in this life.

HOWEVER, once we incarnate, I think "all bets are off" in a sense and that is where our free will kicks in. We can ignore the signs. We can ignore our intuition. One person can decide not to have a relationship with the other. Or, we can follow our hearts and honor our Soul choices by going with those little subtle nudges that our "Higher Self" gives us.

I definitely agree with Brian. Life is a continual adventure, where we have the opportunity to make choice after choice after choice.

I think you bring up an important point around how language shouldn't always be taken literally, and why it's really helpful not to lead when facilitating a past life regression, as you can therefore get more pure and accurate information.

So much has already been explained from reliable sources like Michael Newton's two books, Destiny of Souls and Journey of Souls.

What I feel is most important, and what I have noticed frequently, is that we are guided from the other side to head in specific directions based on the plans we make. That guidance can be stronger at times, and that depends on the being providing the guidance (their skill level, their level of frequency/development); then it's up to us to heed such guidance.

The movie the Adjustment Bureau comes to mind.

The more we awaken and release blockages within our energy system and primary chakras, the more free will we have and the easier it becomes to manifest and attract what we want.

If we are blindly living life, day to day, doing what everyone else is doing, following the main stream media and what our Governments tell us to be true, the less free will we have.

I think soul contracts exist and are self-created. They are a way to focus on an area of learning and thus to progress with commitment. They also allow one to feel and experience resistance, which is an important feature of limiting 3D life. Within the contract, which is a temporarily instilled soul boundary, there is freedom of movement and will, which allows for change, learning, and reversals where appropriate. If one is not free to make reversals, what is the point of experiencing, learning the truth of something? You need to be able to experience it in application.

I have personally experienced a change of soul contract, mid-life. I know this because I had a dream where I willingly signed the contract to continue on another track. I did this on December 31st, 2015, around or exactly at midnight. I woke up straight after, and had just finished signing, with a flourish. Mmmm, I thought. OK. What's next?

I've come to the conclusion that contracts only exist with negative entities who convince us that we are duty bound to follow through on something. We might have agreements with other souls to help group growth, but we are not duty bound. The filters or programs that are put in place will more than likely ensure that we have a particular mindset or thought process as well as being involved with certain people in our lives. Such filters or programs would be family patterns, archetypal energies, astrological chart, numerology etc. but we are always free to change our minds or not follow through on a soul plan that the conscious mind would have no idea about. Contracts feel binding but agreements are more in line with freedom to choose our life experiences. I also feel that free will is quite limiting in this reality. I know of many cases including my own in the planning stages where 'higher beings' decide things that we would prefer were otherwise. In my case one of those was I wanted to be a male this time around and was told I needed to be a female and was told why.

I like it that you're female this time around. When you dispense wisdom, it comes with a certain transmission of female energies, which possibly could just be the inner space rather than the outer space, the introverted rather than the extraverted.

Thanks. I'd never thought of that. It was in a Life Between Lives session (Michael Newtons technique) that I saw my planning stages and was told that with the life experiences that I was going to have (loads of abuse) that if I was male I'd have a hard edge, and that the female brain was easier for 'them' to communicate with. At the time I remember thinking that being a female was going to be easy as I was very comfortable being male. Then in my session with Dolores I remember saying that I changed my mind because being a female is very hard, which made her laugh. lol
