"Samples were taken from the new machines that have been rolled out at restaurants across the country – every one of them had coliforms. Senior lecturer in microbiology at London Metropolitan University Dr Paul Matewele said: ‘We were all surprised how much gut and faecal bacteria there was on the touchscreen machines. These cause the kind of infections that people pick up in hospitals." (Source)

Not that I eat at McDonald's since I'm vegan (exception eggs), soy and gluten free with my diet just now, but this is an interesting study which just doesn't stop at McDonald's. Think about all the other places people eat at, whether they order on a touch screen or simply touch things around the store like the handle to open and close the door.

Think about shopping trolleys (called carts in the US I found out when living there). We all use one with grocery shopping.

However, all these things can help our immunity as well, and is a natural part of life, but people could get parasites/worms from this if their immune system is low.

Ummm, this would be the time for the opposite of the 'yum' rating buttons:p

There are lots of studies on how dirty these are. Here's a few:

I like that point about our immune systems being there to handle such things and that doing so helps develop our immunity.
Here's a decent looking article on that:

BTW, there are also numerous studies on the real-life effects of the "environmentally friendly" hand blow-dryers in public restrooms.
Well, guess what, they blow all kinds of bacteria into the air, and these stay airborne of the public restrooms for at least 2-3 hours.
Let's not even mention they are not "environmentally friendly" either.....

I am the complete tribulation monster when anyone (such as teenage girls and boys) does not wash their hands after using the toilet, when visiting my house. Oh, my!
