Since I took a shaman course a few months ago I've gotten into the habit of greeting the sun most mornings as a way to start the day on a contemplative note. Usually I do this in the back where I overlook the garden and enjoy the light, see what the world is up to; listen to birds and check the sky, that sort of thing. It's a beautiful way to start the day.
This morning was special. I held my warm drink in hand and faced the sun, as usual, singing the repetitive song I'd learned in the class:
"Morning sun, morning sun
Come my way, come my way, come my way, come my way (I now change this to "come my way, come our way, come my way, come our way" + similarly w the next line)
Take my pain, take my pain, take my pain, take my pain
Down below, down below, down below, down below
Cooling waters down below."
As I did this I was looking at the sun through the leaves of a nearby tree. They refracted (bent) the light with some shimmering effects. When I bent my head or the wind blew, the effects would vary.
The most beautiful effect had each ray of light clearly outlined as it came out of the sun and, looking closely, I could see each rainbow colour shimmering out along each ray as the spectrum of colours repeated themselves, constantly emerging centrally from the sun. It looked a lot like these pics if you were to add the colours + the movement to each ray:

Another effect, when I moved my head to a different spot looked precisely like pictures of standing waves of light where some areas were enhanced in a specific (familar to most of us) pattern. This looked a lot like the next picture (colours + all) if you took it and spread it out into the circular pattern of, say, sunlight seen through the trees (the pic after that):
A clever technique and an ultrafast electron microscope have caught an image of light behaving as both particle and wave at the same time. Here, the wave nature is demonstrated in the wavy upper portion, while the particle behavior is revealed below, in the outlines showing energy quantization.

In an article titled "Image captures light's spooky dual nature for the first time" at the site "Live Science"
There were many other sites which showed this same picture (above) demonstrating the duality of light, which I gather was first successfully photographed in 2015.
The overall effect was something like this but with the entire spectrum of colours showing up:

I believe what was happening (for physics oriented folk) was something along these lines (see image below), though it would have been, I believe, with multiple (almost) overlapping central points which were really, really close together, so that the overall image appeared to my eyes to be a single image.

What a way to start my day with a huge slice of beauty, wonder and delight I feel quite sure that what I was seeing was pure physics.
I also have no doubt that it was pure magic.
Just like light, it seems that physics (science) and magic (delight) can mix after all, with awe inspiring effects
