There have been quite a few stories about children in locked cars during the summer heat, so I thought it would be a good idea to cover this topic. I picked this board as it definitely is about well-being.

Car windows are designed not to shatter under most circumstances. One of my friends sent me this news clip from her home town about a 12-year-old boy who managed to break through a windshield to get a baby out of a hot car. He did a great job with what he had; however, the right tool would have made a huge difference. The first link goes to the news story - he is quite a young man!

The second clip shows tools designed to break car windows and cut seat belts. I have one - not that I expect a problem for me, but more to help someone else. The tools are not expensive and available at most car parts stores. If you are not aware of how they work, it will surprise you.

I'm bumping my own article because I think it is important info for anyone who drives a car.

These glass breakers are about $10-15usd on Amazon.
These two are $6.79usd: https://smile.am azon.com/BlueSkyBos-Value-Pack-Emergency-2/dp/B01A9Z9MFE/ref=sr_1_13?keywords=car+emergency+tool&qid=1566300247&s=gateway&smid=A1GOH47HO5X35O&sr=8-13

Here's an Amazon search for [car emergency tool]: https://smile.amazon.com/s?k=car+emergency+tool&ref=nb_sb_noss_1

Get a really solid tool, not a hollow one with electronics. If you use one with electronics (like a light inside) to break glass the electronics will likely break.

Here are 2 for $24.95: https://smile.am azon.com/Lifehammer-Original-Emergency-Seatbelt-Netherlands/dp/B000BMWXZM/ref=sr_1_38?keywords=car+emergency+tool&qid=1566300247&s=gateway&sr=8-38

If it's real cheap, and it's not labeled Prime, it might very well ship from China or Asia and will take 3-4 weeks to get to you. Check the product description carefully to see where it ships from. If it doesn't say, it probably ships from Asia.

I guess we can't have Amazon links to products here at all. Sorry.

Watching the video will give you good information about the tool. I got mine at Academy (US sports store) and imagine you can get them many places that sell tools and/or car equipment.

I've been talking about this idea to friends and have been surprised with the lack of knowledge of car windows.
