The aircraft I worked on had nozzles similar to those but pointed down. They take overflow hydraulic fluid and dump it. out side of that I don't know.

I'd say those nozzles would be too small for Chem trails. I've seen pictures of the set up and tanks used in spraying and those outlets would be about 3 to 6 inches across for volume of spray. Just my opinion here.
