The above link will lead you to Lynda Hill's Sabian Symbol site where you can click on the "Ask the Oracle" and get a quick symbol based reading. (I had to scroll down, as the button didn't do anything after clicking on it, but once you scroll down one symbol with a description will appear after asking the question)

What are Sabian Symbols?

"The ancients divided up the sky, just like any other circle, into 360 degrees. They assigned each of the 12 constellations (star signs or zodiac signs) 30 degrees each: 12 times 30 = 360. The Sabian Symbols are a set of 360 phrases of words that correspond with each of the 360 degrees of the wheel of the zodiac, from Aries 1 to Pisces 30. Consisting from as little as 2 words (Virgo 2: ‘A Harem’) to as many as 21 words (Taurus 5: ‘A Youthful Widow, Fresh and Soul-Cleansed From Grief, Kneels at an Open Grave to Receive the Secret of Eternal Life), each one of these Symbols holds both a story and a unique energy field of their own. These images hold meaning for those degrees of the signs. Although the Symbols have their foundations in astrology, absolutely no knowledge of astrology is needed to use them.

The Sabian Symbols were given birth in San Diego, California, in 1925 by Marc Edmund Jones, a noted American astrologer and spiritualist and the gifted clairvoyant Elsie Wheeler. Jones was interested to find a set of word images to go with every degree of the zodiac. Elsie Wheeler was an extraordinary clairvoyant confined to a wheelchair for most of her life. Jones chose Elsie Wheeler as his partner in this “experiment” (as Jones called it) as she had a remarkable ability to “see” messages, images and symbols. She used this talent to help her clients, but was rather weary of the standard questions she received, such as “when will I be rich?” and “when will I meet the love of my life?” She was eager to take part as she believed that this was an opportunity to really contribute something to astrology." (Source & More Info)

About Lynda

"Lynda Hill is one of the world’s top astrologers. Her book, The Sabian Oracle: 360 Degrees of Wisdom, is recognised as the premier resource on the Sabian Symbols, a unique set of images to chart your destiny based on the zodiac. Her intuitive blend of modern astrology with deep interpretation of the Sabian Symbols has guided thousands of people to tune in to their inner wisdom and create meaningful, fulfilling lives." (Source)

The Book

book-sabian-oracle-mock-750x1000 (1).jpg sabian oracle.jpg

It's said that Lynda Hill’s interpretation of the Sabian Symbols is “a revelation” and “uncannily accurate.” There are a few different covers since it's been out a while, and there is an ebook option now.

The Sabian Oracle: 360 Degrees Of Wisdom offers great insight and guidance on these symbols.

"By tapping into the circle of the zodiac as well as the ‘ancient mind matrix’ accessed by astrologer Marc Edmund Jones and spiritualist medium Elsie Wheeler, it opens the doorway between our inner feelings and intentions, and our conscious mind. It does this by putting what’s within us into words and wisdom that enrich our life’s journey and illuminate our destined path."

You can find the book on Lynda's site here: https://sabiansymbols.com/about-sabian-oracle-book/

I just selected a card for an issue I had and it helped a lot. This is a reminder for those out there, that this free resource is available on the link above. (just mentioning again the button doesn't work on the website — I had to use the mouse's scroll wheel to get the symbol to appear)

Lol! I asked what Transients/Roundtable represents.
Lookee at what I got and laugh out loud:

Cancer 16

A PERSON STUDYING A MANDALA IN FRONT OF THEM, WITH THE HELP OF A VERY ANCIENT BOOK

This Symbol shows being able to make sense out of complex systems and to be able to apply them in your everyday life. However, you may still be puzzled by the deeper meanings of your situation. The key is often found in old knowledge and wisdom or systems of understanding like architecture and astrology. Perhaps you feel ‘boxed in’ by situations and need to be able to strategise your way out. You must seek what is already known in order to understand. Knowledge is available to you. Studying ‘the secret mysteries’ can reveal answers to life's questions. Gaining control of one's inner and outer life. Astrology. Architecture and strategic planning. Systems of thought laid out. Maps. Mandalas. Meditation. Tibetan monks.

The Caution: Ignoring the old wisdom for modern rational systems. Lack of imagination. Going into a situation unorganized and unplanned. Trying to gain the better of others by out strategizing them. Not wanting to put in the work.

Keywords: Concentration. Overcoming obstacles by gaining control of one's inner and outer life. Architecture and strategic planning. Lessons to be learnt from histor y. Astrology, numerology, tarot. Systems of thought that are laid out. Maps. The rules of warfare—anything with a strategy. Drawing strength and inspiration from squares and circles. Inward attention. Mandalas.

Having fun with the Sabian Symbols again. This time I asked "What is this (blood, blue super) lunar eclipse about globally?
Got an answer I didn't expect:

Scorpio 13

AN INVENTOR PERFORMS A LABORATORY EXPERIMENT

This Symbol shows the ability, or necessity, of being able to take risks, to be an explorer or someone who does things rather differently than most people. It’s your job to look for creative solutions and work with them. When things are just not working, you probably need to try different combinations and different possibilities in order to have the desired result. Being willing to go out on a limb can bring all kinds of unexpected results, some wonderfully rewarding, but some, if not well considered, could end up blowing up in your face. By persevering, you will not only find solutions to complex situations, but also learn a lot from any errors you make along the way. Creating one's vision. Being prepared to risk failure. Taking calculated risks. Looking for answers. Going outside the square. The thrill of the unknown, untested and untried.

The Caution: Becoming obscured by pointless goals. Making things up. Being one-eyed and focused to the exclusion of all else. Not fully understanding the consequences of actions. Always taking risks. Not taking adequate cautions. Not keeping track of what you're doing. Ignoring warning signs. Being a "mad professor".

Keywords: Creating one's vision. Thinking quickly and making momentary decisions. Being prepared to risk failure. Bringing different mixes of things and/or people together. Taking calculated risks to see what will happen. Seeing if things live up to expectations. Looking for answers. The "mad professor". Mixing chemicals. Measuring and weighing. Going by one's gut reactions. Inventions and experiments. Discovery. Laboratories. Research.

I asked for a general prognostication of my future...

The Oracle Answers

Capricorn 16

SCHOOL GROUNDS FILLED WITH BOYS AND GIRLS IN GYMNASIUM SUITS

This degree shows being vibrant and alive and in the physical body with enthusiasm and excitement about life and the future. The “Gymnasium Suits” shows the need to get active and to stay active, to have time in your life to drop into the physical body and enjoy it. If you've been neglecting your physical well-being, it is good to reestablish that affinity with your vitality. Spontaneous enthusiasm and the joy of being 'alive' can regenerate and revive and bring about carefree contact with like minded people. The trick is to bring some form of physical discipline into your life while enjoying it and not feeling forced to do what you don’t want to do. Developing muscular coordination. Sexual energy or satisfaction. Playing, marching, competition, rivalry. Activities of unity. The search for identity. Being one of many.

The Caution: Physical showing off for sexual attention. Relationships based on purely physical or sexual attraction. Having to do things that one isn't capable of physically doing. Not joining in.

Keywords: Developing muscular coordination. Sexual energy, attraction or satisfaction. Playing, marching, competition, rivalry. Singing songs of unity. New anthems for the young. The search for identity. Being able to accomplish things on the physical level. Physical fitness. Uniforms and uniformity. Gymnasiums. Exercise equipment. Conscription. Being one of many. Learning how to get along with the opposite sex. Bodybuilding. Level playing fields.

Yours is great! Time to move more. This could be mine too. The squat health challenge has really kept me accountable and I’m doing other physical activity too.

Here’s mine in regards to 2018:

Libra 20

A JEWISH RABBI IN A TINY ROOM FULL OF MANUSCRIPTS AND BOOKS, PERFORMING HIS DUTY

This Symbol implies a person having the role of administering the spiritual and ethical laws and rituals and rules for living in their society. No matter how large or small the role is, this Symbol implies being in touch with one’s roots and studying and learning how to translate the lessons and the benefits for others. There is age old wisdom and established tradition which has survived to this day and you may need to access this knowledge though instruction or an inner search in order to deal with situations. There are “Duties” and ceremonies that need to be performed, either for your self of your community. Do what's needed with faith and reverence. Ancient sources of truth and understanding. Faith in abiding laws. Inherited wisdom. Books, manuscripts and written laws. Ceremonies marking life's journey. Initiations.

The Caution: Religious dogmatism. Following the rules of "the book". Sticking to what convention says. Losing one's sense of individuality. Over-inflated sense of self. Distrust or hate of different religions, backgrounds or ethnic origins. Restrictive rules.

Keywords: Connection with ancient sources of truth and understanding. Faith in abiding laws. Inherited wisdom. Ancient books. Fundamentalism. Rituals, social and otherwise. Initiation ceremonies. Book work. Studying and worshipping. Doing deeds on behalf of the community. Religious services. Writings that reveal rules for living. Lawyers. Advocates. Hidden knowledge.

Well, obviously you need to keep playing hockey, @PucksterguyO.o:D
Just switch a few words like: gymnasium/rink, gymnasium suits/hockey uniform, level playing fields/level ice rinks:)

So resonates for every mom who is constantly 'translat[ing] the lessons and the benefits [of the spiritual and ethical laws and rituals and rules for living in their society] for others.
It probably resonates for you on other levels, too, I am guessing.

Funny, I asked a slightly different question about the future right in front of me (not the year 2018) and got one that also advised paying attention to ancient texts/stories/myths/truths/Akashic records, etc. Many manusrcipts and books involved in that too:-))

The word in releation to Anaeika that jumped out at me from this reading is Advocates. Anaeika being an advocate through her multidimensional abilities in various realms, and tying it together in a pleasing Gordian Knot in this life.

Hailstones Melt , I appreciate (like always) your point of view. The Gordian Knot is new to me and I need to say thank you for teaching me something new. I read what it is.

Who dares slice my knot?!!? Hehe :-))

My goodness, look at the year Alexander "cut through" to the core of the problem (added bold), lending weight to his own claim to be the ruler of Asia (known Asia at the time, which was really mid-East, and western parts of Asia Minor):

https://www.maa.org/external_archive/devlin/devlin_9_01.html

Devlin's Angle
September 2001
Untying the Gordian Knot
One day, according to ancient Greek legend, a poor peasant called Gordius arrived with his wife in a public square of Phrygia in an ox cart. As chance would have it, so the legend continues, an oracle had previously informed the populace that their future king would come into town riding in a wagon. Seeing Gordius, therefore, the people made him king. In gratitude, Gordius dedicated his ox cart to Zeus, tying it up with a highly intricate knot - - the Gordian knot. Another oracle -- or maybe the same one, the legend is not specific, but oracles are plentiful in Greek mythology -- foretold that the person who untied the knot would rule all of Asia.

The problem of untying the Gordian knot resisted all attempted solutions until the year 333 B.C., when Alexander the Great -- not known for his lack of ambition when it came to ruling Asia -- cut through it with a sword. "Cheat!" you might cry. And although you might have been unwise to have pointed it out in Alexander's presence, his method did seem to go against the spirit of the problem. Surely, the challenge was to solve the puzzle solely by manipulating the knot, not by cutting it.

But wait a minute. Alexander was no dummy. As a former student of Aristotle, he would have been no stranger to logical puzzles. After all, the ancient Greek problem of squaring the circle is easy to solve if you do not restrict yourself to the stipulated tools of ruler and compass. Today we know that the circle-squaring problem as posed by the Greeks is indeed unsolvable. Using ruler and compass you cannot construct a square with the same area as a given circle. Perhaps Alexander was able to see that the Gordian knot could not be untied simply by manipulating the rope.

If so, then the knot surely could not have had any free ends. The two ends of the rope must have been spliced together. This, of course, would have made it a knot in the technical sense of modern mathematicians.

I use these Symbols a lot in my Horary readings ( question charts). Lynda Hill is a friend and colleague of mine in Sydney and I have heard her lectures in the past as well. She is a dynamic speaker. Lynda also does readings on Skype.
It's important if you use them in a birth chart, event or question chart to always use the symbol for the following degree, although she explains in her books how the previous one has a connection too - in a more karmic sense.

I used one this morning and this description stuck out to me as I am currently in grieving:

“To get lost in idle worship of traditions is to forego current opportunities, and to render ourselves of lesser consequence than the ones who – apart from their reputation – are dead.”

O.o:D

So wise!!!

My card pulled is:

Three "old masters" hanging on the wall of a special room in an art gallery

Sending love and sympathy to you Anaeika. Sounds like you have lost someone... If so those who love us after their death always give us a special gift that will unfold over time.
One of the meanings of that last symbol is that we can radically and permanently change the feeling-quality of our lives, by being together with people who help us to appreciate whatever it is we find of real value. This action not only bonds us to our values, it can even mystically rewrite the past the better to support our future aims.
