A few years ago, I had my first night terror or hypnagogic hallucination. I'm not sure what these are...they always occur in my room (unlike in dreams where your house never looks exactly like it does in reality) when I am first falling asleep. Something/someone is always either attacking me or rushing towards me or just walking by my bed freaking me out. I usually "wake up" screaming. I now sleep with smoky quartz under my bed and other protective crystals and the occurrence has lessened. Around the same time, I started hearing this high-pitched squeal constantly. It never goes away, but it sometimes gets higher or lower in pitch. (I noticed it changed when I was getting Reiki the first time.) And recently, I have been waking up at 10:35 (I go to bed really early, LOL) almost exactly for days in a row with something that feels like a hallucination but is not as terrifying as they used to be. It's so vague and hard to remember right now...I can only remember a vague sense of movement next to me that is the same action every night. What in the world is going on?? Any ideas or similar experiences??

One of the cues I picked up on was that the occurrences lessened after bringing in the quartz.

I do know that interference from other sources is possible, and I'll share some of my practices. First, I limit electronic intrusions in the bedroom. We do have a TV and a cable box, but I have them plugged into a power strip, so I can turn them off at night. That alone improves the quality of my sleep. I set my intentions and protections each evening, saying - "This is a home of light, love, laughter, and prosperity in all things. Any being, entity, feeling, or thought form not in our highest good must now leave". I see the white light around us and expanding out to cover the whole house and yard.

There are some others here with other ideas and experiences. CrystalSong may have something to add.

Thank you, Linda! YES, I do the white light thing every night and morning during my gratitude practice. I also ask Archangel Michael to protect me while I'm sleeping.
But I am going to start unplugging the TV. I forget it's there sometimes because I only use it to watch exercise DVDs and YouTube videos, ha ha!

In case it's electronic energy you are picking up try tying a loose overhand knot in all your electrical cords right at the plug in. It's something electronic guys and audio guys do to cut down feedback or something. I did it and noticed a little difference. Orgone Energy Generators really help cut back on EMF's and make our energy body less susceptible to EMF damage as well. See my website in the signature line or message me for more about those.

What I suspect is actually happening to you is you are starting to feel the presence of your guides and angels, we all have them but are generally unaware until something raises our frequency like meditation, energy work or a miracle.
Pay attention when you hear the high pitched sound to what you last said or thought or what someone said to you in the second before you heard the high pitched whine in your ear.
I've noticed that the sound seems coordinated to something my Angels, Guides or Higher self wanted me to Notice. I've even had it happen just before I knocked a bowl off a table and broke it, or something frying was about to burn, or as I was about to miss a turn or exit off the freeway. It seems to be some sort of warning system or Pay Attention system.
Over time I've really learned to Stop Everything and figure out what I'm getting a "Pssst!" about.

So funny, CrystalSong...you posted at 11:11. :D And I just learned about Orgone generators and am looking for one! So serendipitous. :) The squeal I hear never stops. Most of the time when it changes tone, I am doing nothing special and thinking nothing special...watching Netflix or something. Ha. Kind of like when I see 11:11...I always hear I should pay attention to what I'm doing or thinking then and it's never anything but mundane things. Hm.

This might just be a random spirit walking or running by your bed, not intending to scare you. Or it could be your higher self trying to get you used to actually seeing spirits and higher dimensional entities. The shadow you see could actually be your higher self. I've had constant tinnitus for 35 years.

As a psychomedical problem, "night terrors" were nentioned by Readers Digest (in the 1980s) as an unexplainable terror without a source that can be identified. So the source was not a bad dream or nightmare, or seeing spirits, or anything else. I've had these too but in the 1980s. I had them a bunch of times over 6 months.

You could be becoming more aware of spirits around you and that can be disconcerting if you are not used to it. I just happen to be used to it now because I accept it. It was very hard for me to accept it at first. I've gone to some old houses (set up as a historic house of some sort so people could tour it) and occasionally feel some type of energy, possibly a spirit. Sometimes the energy is bad and gives me a hint of an illness the former occupant had. That house was a 1940s house.

There are also bad spirits that want to scare you to feed on your negative energy. Don't let them scare you. Instead, build up love inside you, and send it to them, trying to cover them with the shining blob of love. They require negative energy to survive so the positive energy is bad for them, they can't handle it. This is very illegal so you can call on an angel to help you, they are there to protect you physically. (It's your job to deal with the physical.) I am specific when I call for help and sometimes I see in my mind an angel that zips by really fast and chases away the offender.

An additional theory: a hole, or weakening, in the fabric between frequencies passed over you and you got a dose of negative energy from a lower frequency blasting out at you.

I saw a ghost come into my bedroom when I was about 12. (Across the street was a cemetary.) She never intended to scare me, she looked very concerned for me. But my first experience I could not deny was a half-body apparition that pushed the comfortor down as she sat on my bed! When going towards my room she tried to pause after every few steps to be quiet, but she ended up doing exactly like a horror movie director would to increase the tension and fear. She just didn't know any better.

I have another post here I cannot find where I discussed something that happened to me about 2 weeks ago. My tinnitus increased steadily into a dull roar as I was in the hypnogogic state and something yanked the covers down about 1 inch. Someone here mentioned this could be my higher self getting my current incarnation used to interacting with spirits, and that made sense because I would totally do a trick like that to myself. lol.

Think on these options to find out which resonates best with you.

You are close. They pull the wires through a ferrite bead, which is not a bead, but a hollow ferrite tube, to make sort of a loop through through the tube. It reduces "noise" on the electrical line. Almost all our appliances and devices can handle this amount of electrical noise in the power supply, but if you are using high-end recording equipment, or super sensitive electronics, you need to get a "cleaner" for the power supply.

Thank you, Chuck! It happened again last night, but at 9:55. I just went to bed a half hour earlier. It was like a shadow doing something (? it's so freaking vague!) next to me where my husband sleeps. I am wondering if it's my brain's delayed perception of my soul entering back into my body...? I don't know. This is something different from the night terrors- those always occur on the other side of me, next to my bed. Sometimes it's a creature, sometimes it's an old naked man (ha, it's funny now, it wasn't then!), sometimes it's two men trying to kill me (worst one ever...couldn't wake up or stop screaming, according to my husband). (Oh, and that last one was the night after I got attuned to Reiki, I think.)

Oh, yeah, the ghosts in our old house! I saw that farmer guy leaning against our doorway, and I also had the lady sit on the end of my bed (I only saw her silhouette) watching me! It's funny...that lady didn't scare me either, I actually thought it was Aunt Kim. LOL

So interesting...the second time I had Reiki, I woke up that night with SUPER loud ringing that morped into what sounded like getting 50 radio stations at once. My Reiki master also has "tinnitus", but says the doctors even put numbing cream on her eardrums to "cure" it and she still heard the ringing. So that's what led me to believe it's not physical (completely, anyway). Maybe we are just tuning into a specific frequency or it has something to do with Ascension?

Love the 11:11 sync! How perfect is that?! Check my website, should be some sweat babies there for you!

As to the ringing never stopping, that sounds like tinnitus. An actual physical malady. I can't remember the exact stones, I think Coral, Turquoise and hematite worn as earrings helped one woman who had the same issue.
Well dang, those are the few crystals I don't have. Excuse to go crystal shopping? I'll take it!! LOL

What's your website, please? :) Thank you!

So last night, not even 20 minutes after I fell asleep, I woke up (?) and "saw" an older lady in my room, but she didn't scare me at all. She had glasses with a chain on them and gave off the vibe of a fairy godmother. :) She had golden lights around her and seemed very friendly. But this type of hallucination has happened every dang night for almost 2 weeks in a row now and that has never happened before. I really just want to sleep through the night! LOL

Through the years, I've had guides show up - 2 were Hindu women who helped with meditation. One was so tiny and funny and the other, more formal.

Kiera, you might set an intention before you sleep to be able to communicate with what is in your highest good. She might even pop in during a meditation, too. If you take some quiet time, I'm sure you can work out exactly what you want to achieve.

I don't think you will find many people here who often sleep through the night. Energies, messages, etc. seem to pop us awake at all hours. For me, sleeping several hours straight is a wondrous treat.

I do always set intentions before I sleep, but they don't seem to help these "hallucinations". And they happen so fast and go away so fast, there's no time to do anything before I'm "awake" again. But yeah...I can't remember the last time I slept through the night. I always wake up around 3 a.m. and can't get back to sleep. A few days ago, I heard my husband's alarm go off at 3:45...but it didn't go off because he was already up, I just heard it as clear as day. This morning, something fell near me (it turned out to be my earbud from my tablet) at 3:45. I ask why I'm being awoken and nothing comes through...so I don't know what's going on.

You have a wi-fi connection nearby, which can interfere with sleep.

Kiera, someone is really trying to get your attention - it might be worthwhile to figure out why.

CrystalSong and I have shared some ideas for possible intentions. I think you have a gift of an opportunity - perhaps looking at it in that light will be helpful.

Everytime i try meditation to enter sleep or placed my focus on a visit style thinking i had no sleep in a row

To best say it the things i saw so far were more grey tone and hard to identify for me

I have described a lot of these sort of "opportunities of learning" in my thread More Activity in the Paranormal. Laron also helped by explaining that the presence you might feel when drifting off to sleep is actually your Higher Self in communication with you, or as Linda explained, trying to gain your attention. Screaming has been my unconscious reaction for many years with this type of energy bump in the night, but now I try to remain alert and aware without losing that through fear. Perhaps your HS is just there to hold your hand while you commence on your out-of-body journey through the sleep state.

I don't even call them hallucinations. I think that is psychiatrists' talk! (Those people who only hear about it from the other side of a couch, and think to medicate it out of existence).

She has a message for you. Ask her what the message is. The message could just be "the spirit world is real, so here I am, and I'm not going away until you believe". Open your mind, ask her what she wants, and clear your mind to receive the message.

I often get up by 3:30am or 3:45am by myself, but my alarm is set to 4am too. So that might be an issue. However I have awoken even more often at 3:11 and 3:30.

I sometimes get random messages from some spirits now that I finally admit I can hear them, I think some are lonely and just want to visit. One guy I call The Actor. He likes to be melodramatic about most things he says, and he has a sense of humor. He also talks with a British accent and was alive in the late 1800s, Victorian times. I'm American and cannot talk in a British accent even if I tried.

Maybe these are not necessarily ghosts or spirits but rather 'fear tests' by the larger consciousness system because you might be about to astral project. The hypnagogic and sleep paralysis state are good springboards for this.

It tests you if you are ready. See Tom Campbell on this and why it happens and what you can do:

In my early years of projecting, I almost every time had nonphysical people touching me on the etheric plane but I accepted it because it was helpers helping me out-of-body, so I spared myself doing an exit technique. There was no fear involved. I had asked for it. I then even met some of the guides repeatedly, knew some even by name. We flew around exploring stuff. If you overcome your fear it can be rewarding. Demand to meet your guides and reach out. It might work.

Crystals are ok. Try also a black tourmaline crystal (Schorl), they are said to be the best protection against negative energies in general. Still it is better to 'feel' that you are already protected and don't really need it. If you still do experience fear maybe working on fear issues and general mindset for OBE or any non-physical experience could help.

Here are two links for e.g. affirmations to be spoken before sleep, the first is from W. Buhlman and the second from R. Monroe:

I like that view. I never use this term either. Same with 'illusions'. Or when people say 'it's just a dream' meaning: 'not real'. But what is real anyway? For me everything we experience is 'real'. Even my own thought forms are real. On the astral plane you can make them visible and play with them. Generally, we live and experience in REAL-ities. EVERYTHING is REAL.

Well, these experiences are only a few seconds...there is no time for me to ask anything before I'm awake/open my eyes.

Thank you so much! That video was very interesting. I am working on my beliefs and fears right now. I have had practice for years with nightmares where I ask the scary thing chasing me who they are and what they want and it's fascinating...they always turn into a harmless old man or something sad looking and tell me insightful things I can't remember. LOL

Interestingly, I haven't had my usual experiences since I put black tourmaline and shungite near my bed...but I also know that could just be my belief that it is protective. I am reading A Course In Miracles right now and learning I don't need any of these tools. But I DO like them. C'mon...crystals are so pretty! ;)

Yes, I remember that technique. It is good to confront the scary characters (with words, not violence). That helps a lot. Never run away or 'struggle'. Crystals alone do not a lot because they are resonators, so it could be both, your intent / belief / goal you enter into them and their capacity to help 'implement' it.

Really? Why is that? I'm so curious! :)
4D is space/time (the 3 dimensions of breadth, width and height, and add time as the 4th dimension), and in higher dimensions time does not exist. The rate time passes depends on the gravity in question (variable in the universe). This is a physics question, I think. A lot of confusion in the minds of people who have had encounters is reportedly because of time differentials or time lapses.

When you're heading off to sleep, your perception of time is variable. Hypnagogic is the fancy name given for the transition from wakefulness to sleep, and hypnopompic is from sleep to waking. During these transitions you may have lucid dreams or interactions in the quantum field, that is, consciousness events. if you were actually awake, you would realise only a few seconds had passed, but in the phase transition when your brain waves are dialling up or down, it might appear to have taken longer. When you're asleep, you're basically having an out-of-body experience that might reach through different levels of the astral.

If somebody would like to add to this discussion, please feel free, as I am certainly no physicist!

Thank you so much! I get it now.

So this kind of ties in, because just a few minutes ago, I was laying in bed recalling my dreams, and I think I sort of started falling asleep again, because I suddenly had a picture of a rumpled pillowcase under my pillowcase. I dumped out the rumpled pillowcase, and there were 4 (maybe 5, but I can't remember the 5th clearly) crystals...crystals I HAVE, in it. I am taking this to mean I should sleep with these crystals under my pillow. The picture was SO clear...I've never had anything like this come through so clearly. I will post a pic of the ones I was guided to use...interestingly, 2 are red (root chakra, grounding) and 2 are purple (3rd eye or crown, depending on whom you ask). SO cool!!

That's how I know that it's more than an average dream.

So you were not sleeping with the crystals before under your pillow, and now you will be?

Did you ever get the chance to ask the lady spirit (with the glasses) that you see for a few seconds, what she wants? If she's trying to send you a message?

Happy holidays!
