I don't normally remember my dreams, but this is one I remember from last night.

There was a footbridge going over a wide and deep river. The footbridge was made of rope and planks, it had been there for a long time, but the rope and planks were in perfect condition. The river was about 6" higher over the footbridge, everyone wanted to get to the other side but everyone hesitated. So I started walking over the bridge, and the water immediately subsided to just below the bridge. A few people followed me.

Oh, and downstream from the bridge there were shallow cement fish pools holding small fish all over on the banks of the river. The pools were made so that during high times of water some fish would get trapped in the tanks, or pools. The banks of the river here were quite flat. The fish pools were full of healthy life, plants, animals, with clean water, and no pollution I could see. A restaurant on the banks of the river also grabbed fish and shrimp from these tanks. I love aquatic life so this was enchanting and beautiful for me as it was full of life and peace. (In real life I used to breed fish and invertebrates.)

That's it.

I crossed the bridge, it was better on the other side.

EDIT: It was actually MUCH better on the other side, I was happy to cross.

Yeah, it was like a test, where only the brave would be allowed over. I.e. it appeared scary, but everything worked out in the end.

nice that you have a clear meaning and such a nice feeling of the dream.

I also had a river and bridge dream this week but the meaning was not completely clear untill I read your dream.

I was riding a bike with my wife next to me toward a river and a bridge. In front of us was another person on a bike.
I saw him riding the bike straight into the river.
i said to my wife to make sure we take the bridge and the next moment my wife goes next to the bridge into the river.
I hurry to the bridge and see it is a bridge made with cross ropes (sort of indian bridge, monkey bridge). It wasn't a bridge to go over with a bike or any heavy stuff.
I hurried over and my wife was already picked up by a boat. I thought of getting the bike out but that meant getting back over the bridge into the water and getting it out on the other side without any means to get it to this side of the river.

I have been thinking a lot on it and I think it is about letting go. letting go of:
  • physical stuff as it can't be brought to where we go
  • letting go of other people that can't see the bridge even if I care a lot of these people. letting go can be interpreted as letting them go their own path. it is not about pushing them away.
  • apparently there are life boats for the people that don't see the water or the bridge.
like in your dream it is about crossing a barrier and overcoming your own "demons/fears"

This interpretation really resonates for me. It's like having kids and letting them go their own path as they grow up, This doesn't mean you love them any less, rather that you respect and believe in them to make their own choices.

My own bridge dream started with a partial bridge over a gentle, pretty stream. It recurred over months and years until I finally figured out that the other side which the bridge soon reached, was my idea of NEarth. So, in a while I was able to walk over my bridge. Then it got bigger. Then others came occasionally, then in small spurts and, at one point for a few months there were streams + streams of people pouring across as fast as they could. At this point the bridge moved into a different starting place (the 'ugly', deserted side of town) and became far wider to accomodate.
Interestingly, in the meantime, I'd found another way to get there which involved stepping into sacred space and popping up in the NEarth area. This way required more work.
Over time, many different things happened in and around that bridge. It was like a platform for building many different stories.

So, again, that idea recurs, of there being many ways to get there. In this case, even the same person can apparently find more than one way :))
Clearly, somebody has a sense of humor:fp:ROFL:

I remember I was really excited to go across the bridge because there was so much life, and leave behind this mostly dead world.
