Some places have an energetic signature that may be linked to location, and other places have energies that may be related to events. I've experienced both.

On a trip to the island of Cyprus, we went to the site of a church that was consecrated by St Peter. Not much remained; however, as I walked around, I felt electricity through my body. It was uplifting and powerful. I could have stayed there a long time, but alas, my friends wanted to move on.

Also in Cyprus, we went to a Roman amphitheater. As I sat on a seat, I had a sense of families through the centuries sitting there.

There is a dormant volcano in northeast New Mexico where you can go to the top. There, you can see other volcanos that cover the area. I feel energized when I'm there.

There was a Spanish monastery near Santa Barbara, California that appeared beautiful from a distance. However, I felt an unease rise up as we got nearer and walked inside the walls. As we were to enter the buildings for a tour, I froze because I just could not enter. Fortunately, my friends were cool with that and went on, and I sat outside. Later, I learned that local Indians did the construction, and as they got ill or injured, their bodies were thrown over a cliff.

Has anyone else had an experience at a place?

I went to Mexico one time. At the back of the restored Chichen Itza ruins (where the tourists go) property are the undeveloped ruins, and a hotel. We stayed at the hotel for a while and went horseback riding along trails in the unrestored ruins. We came up to an old ruined temple, climbed on top, where we found hundreds of butterflies flying around there! The view was terrific and the butterflies didn't seem to mind me as I was the first to get to the top. As more people got to the top of the temple the butterflies went away, but the view was really great as I could see for miles in any direction, the top of the jungle and several other pyramids. It was a spiritual experience for me. I felt so happy and content I didn't know why even though my backside was getting sore from the horse ride.

I think the hotel was Hotel Maya.

No such events so far. I have only an unease in crowded churches. Must be the manipulatif energies that played with religions

I once visited the memorial over the USS Arizona in Pearl Harbour, you can see a rusted gun turret poking through the water and while looking at the list of the men who were trapped and died in only 40ft of water, all noise around me ceased and I felt the horror and heard the cries of those young men.

While looking around a very old empty house with friends, I became extremely agitated and couldn’t wait to get out, they were quite happy and wanted to go upstairs, but there was some dark energy in there and I was gone.
That was long before I knew about dark and light energies, I only knew I had to get away.

On a brighter note.....At one time my family lived in a cottage that was part of a 17th century inn, with 22inch thick walls and stone floors. It had the most wonderful atmosphere which everyone who visited commented on.
It must have had a friendly ghost because my young daughter insisted she often heard footsteps outside her bedroom.

Generally I react well to water, especially water that is in some way moving, mountains and gardens. I can hardly recall a time I wasn't ecstatic to be in or near one.

One special place that comes to mind was an old flow of obsidian that had solidified. I felt so grounded there, though it was before I even knew that word. Energized too.
Another place was the cathedral of Notre Dame, outside, where I loved to go 'talk' to the gargoyles.

Something that always amazes me is how the atmopshere can change dramatically when another being enters the space that I also occupy. It can, for example, become supercharged when a majestic animal comes along. Similarly, I've been in a room where an idea took hold of a group of people enjoying time together, and the atmosphere became either supercharged or divine-feeling (I guess that would be called high frequency by some).

I mostly have this in nature at certain spots where the divine beauty is overwhelming.
Mostly at these spots the ancient people also build places of worship.

When driving trough western USA doing the national parcs tour, I felt the strength of nature in these places and can image the magical stuff happening that the natives talk about. The veil is much thinner there in my opinion.
Some special places there that pop up:
- sequoia national parcs. I feel very connected to the majestic trees and also connected to one of the trees there feeling how it was being a sequoia.
- the bell rock -cathedral walking trails was really nice and led to some really nice spots that were really beautiful and had a strong energy
- angles landing in zion national parc.
- spider rock in Canyon de Chelly
...

One place that stays very mystical and strongly energetic for me is Teotihuacan in Mexico. It is very busy but there is a very strange energy about the place I can't explain. Nobody knows who has build this or how old it is but it is still strong.

closer to home there are:
- the old monastery of Orval; even on busy days there is a very calm energy there.
- monastery of Postel: there probably was a stone circle there before the monastery was build. There is nothing remaining of the circle but it stays a strong place.
- the merry maidens circle in the UK is also still active. there was a distinct difference in energy inside and outside of the circle. very turbulent outside and very serene inside of the circle. I walked in and out several times just to check if I didn't imagine this.

Lila talked about a change in energy. I had this in Las Palmas gran canaria. On the seaside boardwalk there was is very busy energy. When walking around a corner towards the less touristic part of the city the turbulent energy just fell off as if going trough a wall and there only was peace and quiet. first I thought that this was just because there were less people but later in the evening i crossed the same barrier at the same spot when coming back. this was late so there we little people on the boardwalk but the energy barrier was still there.

So for me there are lots of places but you have to be awake to realize that there is something different.

Butterflies and you share a link, as I know you are aware. You probably have a creator or protector role in another life in the natural realms.

There's a Spanish monastery near Perth in a place called New Norcia, and the sect is Benedictine. Negative stuff happened there due to control and domination of the aboriginal tribes in the area (19th and 20th centuries). Psychically sensitive people feel this and do not want to go inside. Of course, the brochures do not present it this way, and they would never own to it.

My son had this in Carcassonne in the museum of torture where the different apparatus were displayed of the inquisition.
there were no sounds or scary images but I think some of the artifacts still had the bad energy hanging around.
he also wanted to go outside.

the catholic church is responsible for some very horrible places.
