A look into the ancient past of Sri Lanka, with references to Ravana, Ashoka, and ancient builders who left a citadel called Sigiriya, where foundations of buildings are all that remain in an intriguing defense strategy at this site (now a world heritage site). The site is also referred to as Lion's Rock. The 3-toed paws of the lion are evident, the face of the lion has apparently eroded over eons of time and is no longer visible for us today.

I am actually thinking about a mythical creature, the Gryphon (or griffin) known from ancient Greek literature, which was a combined lion (back legs, rear end, tail) and eagle (head, forelegs, chest, wings). The paws carved at the Lion's Gate in Sigiriya look more like bird's claws to me, although the site identifies with lion imagery.

Also, there were no ancient stairs cut into the monolith to make access from the ground easy. What if this place was a type of lair, either for the ancient Vedic people with flying vimanas, or some kind of nesting fortress for a bird/lion hybrid entity?

It took me a while to get through the videos. I'm glad I did. I've learned a lot about a place full of mysteries that I've never heard of before.
I wonder if the ancient builders/lair-users are laughing as we make our guesses?
Thanks for showing this.

One more interesting thing about Sri Lanka. Thhe aincents built a bridge to the mainland now covered in water. They found that only recently. I wonder and agree with Lila. Do the aincients laugh at our speculations on their structures? I'm sure they see that those in power hide and lie about the aincient civilizations. About that Lion structure, maybe the stairs are inside it and we need to find a cleverly hidden door to get inside and to thw top space port...

Does this bridge connect with India? I seem to remember an ancient sunken bridge that connects with India and dates back to about 20,000BC or so. It's mentioned in some ancient Indian tales, the Ramayama or some such.

It is believed that Ram Setu is the bridge built by Lord Ram with the help of a Vanara Sena to reach Sri Lanka to rescue his wife, Sita, from the Rakshasa king, Ravana. (In the videos posted above, it is mentioned that Ravana may have been the builder of Sigiriya as well).

Vanara Sena is the monkey clan, led by Hanuman, Vali and Sugreeva, in the Ramayana.

Here are some internet images of the 50km long sunken land bridge (stones dropped onto an existing sand bar, in very ancient times (as therium stated).
