I'll never forget my beloved cat, Raven (Ravensthorpe) chose to lie down on my back door entrance mat when it was his time to die. I missed him by only 2 hours. I have posted this before, but I had someone coming around to feed him while I was away for a couple of days. She saw him alive, but he wasn't eating. Then I came home and he had stretched himself out on the mat. He and I had a very strong bond, and the back door was my usual entry into the house, so that was where he put himself. I lovingly wrapped his body in a muslin fabric I had and buried him in the back yard. He was only 11 years old, but he had a hard life. I rescued him because his first owners left him when we purchased a house, and I enticed him onto my lap, and kept him for the rest of his life. But my first husband was mean to him and chased him off the garden by throwing lemons at him from our lemon tree and chasing him with a rake. The cat was not allowed inside our house (by the first husband). But I used to spend hours with him on the back porch, and let him into the house late at night if first husband was not around. He had mange, and the first husband wouldn't pay for him to see a vet, so I treated that by wiping lavender oil onto it. It didn't really work, so I stuffed him in a bicycle bag to try to get to the vet's. He got out of a crack the size of a one dollar bill. I managed to get him to the vet's despite the negative trend and he got treated with the correct stuff and the mange mostly cleared up. In that first marriage, I had to do a lot of rebelling and breaking the control cycle. That cat and I were on one side of the divide. I am positive the cat knew he was going to die, and laid himself where I couldn't possibly miss him. I loved that cat so much.

I'll never forget my beloved cat,
That's a real touching story and it makes me think of my cat Beezle who I had to get the vet to put down because of cancer in his jaw. He was 10.

This photo is the last one I took of him before he left. (Taken just west of the blue mountains in Sydney)

But his brother is still here.

Edit -
It just occurred to me that not everyone would get the wisdom part of the above meme. The cute little black and white critter is a skunk, which has a most powerful non-lethal protection - its spray. Having quite a bit of experience with them, I can tell you it smells like burning tires and scorched garlic. If you are close to the origination point, the smell is so potent that you cannot breath.

They are dangerous! One night a couple of months ago I was waking with my dog in the north part of my property. It was dark and my dog started to pull me ahead. I noticed a few yards at front of us something on the ground. Fortunately I had a very good flashlight and when I turned on I realized it was a skunk with the tail up just waiting patiently for us to get closer. Illuminated by the flashlight it finally moved away.
My dog obviously wanted to chase it but there was no-way I was going to do so and struggled to control my dog (she is big and strong) rather than pull my pistol and venture a shot (not to kill, but to get the skunk to keep moving away). By-the-way, I only shoot to kill the poisonous snakes since one already got my dog more than a year ago.

alligator.jpg

In the olden days, when I was a little girl, my dad taught me to say "See you later alligator. After awhile, crocodile". Wanting to provide you all full meme service, I looked up the origin and found to my surprise it was song by Bill Haley and the Comets. I can see my dad thinking it was funny that a little child said this.

Hey Linda, watching that boogie woogie or rock-a-billy dancing, it reminded me that in the mid-70's I actually could dance like that, for example being thrown down between the legs of my dance partner and hauled back up, all the while laughing our heads off. It goes in the "Memories" shoebox now, 'cos to dance like that again it would have to be with The Hulk!

I used to boogie to Bill Hayley, but it was way before the 70s lol, what memories.
Got ( Rock Around the Clock ) on a cd, and as soon as it starts, my feet are tapping, head bobbing.
Even have a short jig around the room, a very short one...sigh.
