How about a sticky thread to post your favorite music? It could be whatever your listening to from rock, blues, jazz. classical whatever. Also personal compositions and performances(nudge, nudge, wink, wink Ged) whatever. One could listen to songs in one tab whilst perusing the latest news on the rest of the forum.

Great idea for a thread, Pucksterguy!

I love David Arkenstone's work. He does a variety of "New Age" music that reflects the mood of different cultures--from that with Irish tones to his "Native Spirit" works under the name "Ah Nee Mah". This track, "Storm Light" is one of my favorites (and it's AWESOME with headphones, where you can feel the thunder roll by). I find nearly all his music to be very peaceful and calming. I find it's the perfect choice if you just want to relax and meditate or use it as an inspirational background while working.

Michael Gettel has a similar feel to some of his music. His "Skywatching" album is awesome. There's a track from that in the second video clip below.

Oh, and I can't forget David Lanz! Third clip. I get full-body goose/soul bumps every time I hear it.

TY Henda. Just back from my two week "holiday" up north. It was wonderful being in the wilderness but building my cabin is a ton of work. Alls good gonna retire there or transfer it to the new Earth lol. Maybe I'll start a thread and show you guys what I've done.

another great song from the new album of Disturbed is this one:

their new album is somewhat different from their older ones, the lyrics show they are awakened to some extent now lol

Like an unsung melody
The truth is waiting there for you to find it
It's not a blight, but a remedy,
A clear reminder of how it began
Deep inside your memory
Turned away as you struggled to find it
You heard the call as you walked away
A voice of calm from within the silence
And for what seemed an eternity
You wait and hoping it would call out again
You heard the shadow beckoning
Then your fears seemed to keep you blinded
You held your guard as you walked away

When you think all is forsaken,
Listen to me now
You need never feel broken again
Sometimes darkness can show you the light

An unforgivable tragedy
The answer isn't where you think you'd find it
Prepare yourself for the reckoning
For when your world seems to crumble again
Don't be afraid, don't turn away
You're the one who can redefine it
Don't let hope become a memory
Let the shadow permeate your mind and
Reveal the thoughts that were tucked away
So that the door can be opened again
Within your darkest memories
Lies the answer if you dare to find it
Don't let hope become a memory

When you think all is forsaken,
Listen to me now
You need never feel broken again
Sometimes darkness can show you the light

Sickening, weakening
Don't let another somber pariah consume your soul
You need strengthening, toughening
It takes an inner dark to rekindle the fire burning in you
Ignite the fire within you

When you think all is forsaken,
Listen to me now
You need never feel broken again
Sometimes darkness can show you the light

Don't ignore, listen to me now
You need never feel broken again
Sometimes darkness
Can show you the light

Ripple - one of my favorites - that is how I think of myself - making ripples here and there

Saw them in concert

What a long strange trip it's been

PS - see we have the same hair
Love that hair....how cool great minds think alike. I've seen most of the major act of the seventies but not them. I would have loved to see them

Discovered this French hip-hop artist who rocks my world with her huge heart and deep insight. I cry every time at this one:
Cinquième Soleil (5th Sun) by Keny Arkana

"... understand between the lines,
children of quinto sol
the sun shines in you
shine your light to illuminate the chaos of their world
because we are not here by accident
the Pleiades designates us
understand between the lines
life is great
disobedience
because the truth is inside us
because the life is inside us"

and here some mix of pagan and irish and other elements style I love them :)
I love pagan folk and pagan rock/metal. Omnia are good friends with Faun, which is one of my fav bands.

Here's a great concert from 2007. When I watched this on DVD on a certain evening in 2009 I had my first controlled self-induced OBE that same night. Who knows, maybe it came from the shaman beats that their percussionist sometimes uses. :)

This for me is true musical magick. <3

This group, Crack the Sky, was so much a part of my formative years. They were a huge band in Baltimore, and I really don't understand why they didn't get broader airplay. The music is so complex and interesting, and the lyrics so incisive. Anyway, a group that ran with the musical freedom that was still available in the '70s. Look them up, they're a lot of fun to get into

Nuclear Apathy

Oh, rise up children, life goes on and on
Wise up children, life goes on and on
In the dark you cannot see
In the dark the victory is fear
Like a fool you follow fools
Like a fool you follow what you hear
Will they blow us all apart
Or kill us all with virus darts
Or, rise up children, life goes on and on
Wise up children, life goes on and on
On the moon they're laughing hard
On the moon they're falling off their seats
From the moon we're comedy
From the moon we're really quite a treat

This is one of their... funnier... songs, and one of the most popular, a guaranteed earworm
Skin Deep

Oh how they look when we are walking down the street
I know they wish that they could change places with me
They see my suit they see my blue Mercedes Benz
They see Miss January's more than just a friend

I don't believe them
When they tell me life is more than
Skin, skin, skin, skin, skin, skin deep

Great songs Maryann. I heard them last year for the first time, They got some great stuff. Love Nuclear apathy. BTW that Celtic music you and Sinera posted got me listening to Celtic music again. I've been to Dublin about 20 yrs ago and got hooked on the pubs and music scene there. Many of the pubs would have a band playing some were known for their Celtic bands.

Crack the Sky is cool stuff.

I listened to a lot of prog rock through the years. Crack the Sky reminds me in parts of early Rush (which I was a great fan of starting in the late 80ies though) but also some other 70ies prog stuff, e.g. Kansas (soundwise).
