All Good Things… My Final Article & The Switch to the Roundtable

1

As I previously mentioned, a big change is coming for how articles are managed, and how you access the site as I will soon configure an automatic redirect for those landing on www.transients.info. (existing articles will still be accessible, so nothing is being removed for now)

I’m keen to get this sorted but I will give people a few days to read this — after that, when you arrive on the site here, that being transients.info, you will no longer see the same page. You will see a new portal page that is setup on our community forum, The Roundtable. That portal page will change overtime.

To begin, I’ve setup navigation so that you can easily locate the articles you’ve been following on the front page, as seen below.

On desktop and mobile view you will be presented with a version of the above. If you’re on mobile, you can scroll by dragging your finger to the left when touching that navigation area.

The second link is articles, which is where the articles from the front page will be. But note they are in trending order, so not the latest post order. If you want to access the URL to the latest articles(threads), you will need to go to the board. Check the previous article I made for instructions on how to follow that board via email.

The default view is showcasing most of the threads from the forum, with a few exceptions as some boards are for registered members. The order you see the threads are based on their trending status, which is a combination of different factors.

With the rest of the links under trending, I’ve grouped boards together, so more than one board’s contents is showing for that category. And again, the thread titles are not in order of when they were posted, but in order of their trending status.

If you want to follow all new posts in order of date, you can do that by navigating to this URL, https://www.transients.info/roundtable/, and then click on on “New Posts”. (or just bookmark this. If you want to only follow certain boards, go directly to those boards and you can then hit follow to subscribe by email, or just keep coming back to check for new posts.

For those that register on the forum, you will get a message in your inbox with links to instructions on how to navigate and use the forum. I’ve written a lot of instructions on using the forum over the last three+ year’s it’s been around.

The Forum is full of content. I’ve added some menu items to cover most of what we have on the current front page. With about ten moderators, it’s well supported.

For those looking for a RSS feed link, this is it for RT: https://www.transients.info/roundtable/forums/-/index.rss
Note you won’t pick up the posts on boards you have to be registered for. Tip: You can copy the link of a board and use that for a RSS feed too.

This is my last article using wordpress for the current version of the front page, but I’m posting on the forum, usually on a regular basis, and occasionally will submit articles on the article/blog board.

See you on the Roundtable.
