A Russian group has taken their work with drones to another level. They've devised a flying bike that hovers, too. It’s a unique electric-powered vessel combining a motorcycle seat with quadcopter drone technology ... In the video they sound very loud - much like a lawnmower or edge trimmer. It was developed for extreme sports, but they caught of the eye of law enforcement in Dubai. The real question is how high can you go, right? The ones being tested in Dubai are programmed for 5 meters (16.4 feet) and can fly at a maximum of 70 km/h (44 mph) for 25 minutes. Although in one test by the Hoversurf folks, the rider/pilot got to 28.5 meters (93.5 feet).

I can see how great it would be to fly around in difficult terrain, but the noise is too much for me. It would drive away any wildlife, too. Of course, the idea behind the creation was not for people like me, but for competitors in an extreme sports event where noise is not an issue.
