Decorated Hat for Evening Wear.jpg
Black and White feather shawl_Evening wear.jpg

Here are 2 garments which I created to wear to the company festive "do", held last Friday night. Unfortunately, I felt too ill to attend, when it came to the day. But I was going to look really spiffy, as you can tell from the effort I put in. The hat was a milliner's brand, which I brought on sale for $10. The scarf at the same sale for $20. But this can be re-purposed when finished being used on the hat. The brooch holding things together is zircon/diamentes. The twisted black ribbon is 2 metres of black velvet ($13).

The shawl is knitted feathers (black, and black and white), the brooch is an amethyst in soft silver setting ($10 from the Salvation Army op-shop); the "tassels" are lamp decorations of a defunct light fixture, sewn on with some of the feather yarn. I also had a genuine antique necklace from my mother, which is a long single strand of small black spherical stones and zircon crusted spheres.

I'll have to ensure I get the chance to wear these - one day!

Very nice! You would've set the standard!

I have been working on calligraphy on and off for a few years now. My best friend sent me a pack of nibs for my birthday this year and the past couple days I've been really into it.
I'm so so impressed, you guys, with how it's coming along.

Angela - you are reviving a lost art! It is utterly gorgeous. Your control of the letterforms is amazing.
Thank you so much!
Being hunched over the paper I see all the mistakes. But the past couple times I've looked at it after walking away and I'm like, daaaamn. I did that! Haha.
Just wait till I get started on majuscules. Hehe. It'll be Crazytown, USA. Haha
