"Land" by Duran Duran. One of only several abstract songs they did. Dreamy. Skip the first 20 seconds and get to the good part (at least I think so).

"Land"

Baby, I'm really sorry
To break your dream
When it's so early
Headlights
On the windowpane
They're getting lost
In the light of day

Tomorrow is today
And soon my ship will sail

Away from here
To walk a howling sealane
Stay for me
Your love is life
For love is land

Baby, just hear my story
Before I leave
Before we write the end
Standing, across the ocean stream
I'll need to know
I'll need your country then

Tomorrow and today
You keep my landfall safe

Away from here (away from here)
To walk a howling sealane (away from you)
Stay for me (stay for me)
I need your love to land
Away from here (away from here)
To walk a howling sealane (away from you)
Stay for me (stay for me)
Your love is life, for love is land

Away from here (away from here)
To walk a howling sealane (away from you)
Stay for me (stay for me)
I need your love to land
Away from here (away from here)
To walk a howling sealane (away from you)
Stay for me (stay for me)
Your love is life, for love is land

Love is land
Love is land
Love is land

"Nature Boy" - a dark and haunting rendition by David Bowie And Massive Attack. In the very end, a girl whispers "I love you."

From wikipedia:

"Nature Boy" is a song first recorded by American jazz singer Nat King Cole. It was released on March 29, 1948, as a single by Capitol Records, and later appeared on the album, The Nat King Cole Story. The song was written in 1947 by eden ahbez and is partly autobiographical. It is a tribute to ahbez's mentor Bill Pester, who had originally introduced him to Naturmensch and Lebensreform philosophies, which ahbez practised. When Cole was performing in 1947 at the Lincoln Theater, ahbez wanted to present the song to him, but was ignored. He left the copy with Cole's valet, and from him the singer came to know of "Nature Boy". After receiving appreciation for his performance of the song, Cole wanted to record it.

Wow what a great thread. Loved the Japanese drummer girl. Drums always do something to me. Thanks Sinera.

Yeah, you can feel them, it is the 'most original' and universal music. Btw, I was a rock music drummer many years ago, today I'm still a drummer but only programming it on my computer. Still, for me it gives me the most pleasure to program and arrange the drum parts than the other instruments. The rhythm is in my blood.

Warning. This is a sad one. :((

But sometimes I love the sad songs.

Both singers (english, french) do an amazing job! Two great voices harmonizing ... unbelievably good.

I came across this song that touched me from watching the movie, "Son of a Gun".

I've included the lyrics below also.

After a storm
I want to be brave
And keep you warm
And not fade away
As we float from the shore
Into the light
Into the unknown
Like thousands of lanterns
Glowing with grace
In glorious silence
Descending through space
To a friend
A sister in need
Who is not alone
And they are surrounding her
And they will enfold her outstretched hand
In our love

Into the light
It's hard to believe
It's always been ours to give
And to receive
I want to be shameless like the sun
Moving into you
Entering light

Welcome
Insha'Allah, insha'Allah
Enter one amazing grace is pouring down
Fear not this light
We are of this light divine
So come
We move as one
Amazing grace is pouring down
Fear not this light
We are on this light divine
Welcome
Enter one

After a storm
I wanna let go
Of the things that I’ve done
Without any worry
I wanna come home
Into the light
Into the unknown
I want to be shameless
Like the sun
Moving into you
Enter light

Welcome
Insha'Allah, insha'Allah
Enter one
Amazing grace is pouring down
Fear not this light
We are on this light divine
So come
We move as one
Amazing grace is pouring down
Fear not this light
We are on this light divine
Welcome
Enter one

At the grocery store when the 60s song, "The Locomotion" came on. I was feeling the rhythm and noticed that everyone I passed was smiling and quietly moving with the music. I felt very happy at the whole scene. When it was over, a crappy song came on, and the spell was broken.

So, here is a video of Little Eva singing and dancers doing the locomotion dance. I sort of recall this song, but I was still a girl then.

My new favourite band, aptly named "Imagine Dragons"

Is it just me or do these lyrics fit right in here?;) All this talk of 'waking up' 'welcome to the new age' etc.
(from azlyrics: https://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/imaginedragons/radioactive.html).
I have taken out some "Whoa oh's"

"Radioactive"

I'm waking up to ash and dust
I wipe my brow and I sweat my rust
I'm breathing in the chemicals

I'm breaking in, shaping up, then checking out on the prison bus
This is it, the apocalypse
Whoa oh

I'm waking up, I feel it in my bones
Enough to make my system blow
Welcome to the new age, to the new age
Welcome to the new age, to the new age
Whoa, oh, oh, oh, oh, whoa, oh, oh, oh, I'm radioactive, radioactive
Whoa, oh, oh, oh, oh, whoa, oh, oh, oh, I'm radioactive, radioactive

I raise my flag and dye my clothes
It's a revolution, I suppose
We're painted red to fit right in
Whoa oh

I'm breaking in, shaping up, then checking out on the prison bus
This is it, the apocalypse
Whoa oh

I'm waking up, I feel it in my bones
Enough to make my system blow
Welcome to the new age, to the new age
Welcome to the new age, to the new age
Whoa, oh, oh, oh, oh, whoa, oh, oh, oh, I'm radioactive, radioactive
Whoa, oh, oh, oh, oh, whoa, oh, oh, oh, I'm radioactive, radioactive

All systems go, the sun hasn't died
Deep in my bones, straight from inside

I'm waking up, I feel it in my bones
Enough to make my system blow
Welcome to the new age, to the new age
Welcome to the new age, to the new age
Whoa, oh, oh, oh, oh, whoa, oh, oh, oh, I'm radioactive, radioactive
Whoa, oh, oh, oh, oh, whoa, oh, oh, oh, I'm radioactive, radioactive

Run, run, catch the sun before he slips away

Oh, winter
Unreason’s cold, tenacity
Pause your nature, dance with me
One more autumn day

Come, Prudence
Come, reason to chase my light away
Catch me, catch me
No, not this day

[Verse 2]
Twilight fall upon all souls
Darkening our skin and bone
Soon I’ll follow Prudence home
Until then, just let me chase this sun

Soon enough I’ll go, a winters way
Soon enough, though not this day

Soon enough I’ll go, winters way
Soon enough

Stay the winter, oh, one more day
Leave me to my child's play

Soon enough I’ll go your way
Dance with me, oh, one more Autumn day
Soon enough I’ll go your way
Soon enough

Soon enough, though not this day

Versengold - Carve Me No Stone

I really like the light-hearted message about the same old grave topic (pun intended).
Thinking about it ... it could be song lyrics written by Pucksterguy somehow. o:)
Or by me too, actually. :)

Translation (not perfect imv, but ok enough, just edited it for a few corrections) taken from:
https://www.musixmatch.com/lyrics/Versengold/Haut-mir-kein-Stein/translation/english

Carve Me No Stone (transl.)

I hope it's a while until the curtain falls for me
Until Mother Earth tells me to return to the fold
But if the time comes for me to leave your sides
I have one big request, the only thing that makes sense

Carve me no stone, nail me no cross and don't lit candles for me
Burn me to ashes, drink a beer on me and then
Don't read me the Mass, put no wreath where I died
Instead build a Pub on that place and dance on my grave

Such a farewell is a tragedy, I know
It'll be time for all of us, sucks but it's true
So live the time that you have left, I grant it to ya'll
Wipe away the tears, and do me the favor

Carve me no stone, nail me no cross and don't lit candles for me
Burn me to ashes, drink a beer on me and then
Don't read me the Mass, put no wreath where I died
Instead build a Pub on that place and dance on my grave

Build me a nice house where everyone goes to celebrate
And on which door it says in big letters:
He had smoked, he had drunk, he danced as long as he could
He went through taverns and saloons until the light came up in the sky
He laughed whenever possible and loved the womankind
He lived all of his dreams, if that is even possible
He had the best family a man could wish for and true friends

Whom I beseech:
Plant me no tree!
Do not oil my skin!
Let no priest get near me!
Burn me to ashes, spread me in the wind and don't put any flowers on my grave
Since you know, that I don't like dead flowers

Carve me no stone, nail me no cross and don't lit candles for me
Burn me to ashes, drink a beer on me and then
Don't read me the Mass, put no wreath where I died
But build a tavern and Dance on my grave!

Some more but also a little 'different' German Folk Music. :-D

Sung in Patois (Jamaican English). A Dancehall / Reggae (big) band.

Related to the topic above, it is also in memory of one of their recently deceased singers Demba - it's best to honour him with a kind of party song because this is the music they made (feminists beware ... half-naked dancing women, but hey... also half-naked men are visible ;)).

Unfortunately never saw them live, they are a kind of very impressive 11-member big band. See the vids below the first.

Song lyrics for the first also again highly topical personally for me now because I just felt too much pressure lately and have to 'release' again. And yes, there is a noticeable melodic The Cure sample (or rather musical quote) in this otherwise very happy and uplifting song. Can you spot it? o_O

"Oh god release, pressure and pain make me freeze
Gimme some sunshine and peace
Just a little break please, from that dreadful disease:
Nowadays pressure increase
...
Wanna cut out and lie in the sun
Catch a brease and sip on mi rum
There's no need to hide or to run
'Cause all the fears and the worries are gone"

Here's some live vids, always <3 the dancers and their moves (male and female).

Yeah, Fox' solo stuff was fine too. He ended his solo career already in 2010 though because the fame was too much for him and he wanted to concentrate on Seeed only.

Sad that Seeed maybe also ended now. Or not? What do you think will happen?

Officially they did not disband. On their website they only have the announcement that they mourn their singer and nothing more.

http://www.seeed.de/

They even had a record and new live tour planned for 2019. Should they do it with two singers only? Or replace Demba? Curious what will happen next year.

I never was the greatest Cure fan back in the 80ies (but my sis was!!!) and yet some songs like this one too truly got me. The Cure were a truly iconic band for the 80ies and also very special in their style. Will never forget their creepy spiderman video. :bag
